BODY SIZE DOES NOT MAKE OR BREAK A COSPLAY.
Make sure you’re costume fits you well. I’m a thick girl and proud, and I always nitpick over how it fits.
Your size should never stop you from cosplaying a character you love.
…that is all.
ignore my slightly irrelevant rant.
This.
A lot of the time, when people are complaining that they aren’t the same weight/build/ethnicity/whatever as the character, and claim that they could never pull it off, everyone is always quick to remind them that cosplay is about having fun with your friends and not a beauty contest. And while this is true, it DOES NOT mean that they can’t also look really good! It just takes a little extra work!
No, if you don’t naturally look just like the character, you probably can’t just don their exact clothes and become a perfect likeness, but with the right adjustments, you can compensate for the differences and still achieve the image of the character that everyone knows and loves! That’s part of the beauty of costuming. Wrong skin tone for your character? Adjust the colors of the clothes and hair a bit to keep the right balance of color overall. Heavier than the character? Alter the length of parts of the costume, or where the waist falls, or any other minor design details to flatter your figure! Too small for a big bulky character? Either bulk up with padding and tall shoes, or slim down every aspect of the character, like the hair, or how streamlined the costume looks, to match your portrayal of the character! And there are a million other ways you can slightly alter the character to match you, if you don’t happen to be born matching them.
Having fun is still most important, or course, but that doesn’t mean that enjoying yourself is some kind of consolation prize if you can’t look perfect… If you’re in it to look perfect, that’s PART of the fun! So adjust it till you rock it!
hi my friends have good advice and it’s awesome

Something I’ve noticed highly over the years. There is body policing everywhere, but in the cosplay community, it REALLY...
It is not irrelevant. The more it is said, the more it will be believed. More people need to hear that!
!!!! very very good yes!!
Cosplaying isn’t about being the character. It’s about admiring the character by portraying them (via yourself) as best...
